JUNIOR ATV RACING ALL GO IN NSW

MNSW is pleased to announce that Junior ATV racing is coming to NSW!

Over the past few months MNSW has embarked upon a process of bringing NSW into line with the other States in terms of how they operate within the sport. NSW seems to have been doing its own thing in many areas, and ATV racing is just one area to be the next beneficiary of change.

According to MNSW CEO Dave Cooke, nobody seems to know why Junior ATV has been excluded up until now. “I received a call from Darrell Knight, the Chairman of MA’s ATV Commission, asking if we could talk about why NSW banned juniors from riding ATVs. I told him I wasn’t even aware of the restriction and set about trying to figure out the reason for this discrimination. In the end, there doesn’t seem to be a valid reason, so we’ve moved as quickly as possible to rectify the situation and bring NSW in line with the National Competition Rules as enjoyed by the rest of the country. As far as I’m concerned our sport operates on a national basis, and although we administer it mostly on a State by State basis, it’s vital for the future of the sport that competitors are on a level playing field all across Australia.”

“I’m looking forward to clubs and coaches being able to do some coaching work with juniors to get their licensing endorsements for ATV so the discipline can begin to grow in NSW. As of right now, Junior ATV riders are allowed to compete on any track licensed for motorcycle sport in NSW.

Hopefully by next year, or even earlier, I’m sure we will see NSW kids bag a bunch of national title trophies in ATV, because everyone knows our NSW kids are the best at everything.”

MA ATV Commissioner Darrell Knight said “The ATV Commission has been actively pursuing authorisation for Junior ATV sport in NSW for years. Being geographically central on Australia’s Eastern Coast, NSW is the most important State that has been missing Junior ATV sport for far too long and it’s cost our discipline dearly. The Commission and ATV riders all over Australia applaud the new MNSW direction of National alignment for all competition rules. We are all excited about our future with this fantastic new support from the revitalised MNSW. A huge thank you to CEO Dave Cooke and the Board of MNSW. Let’s get those NSW ATV kids started”.

This decision provides a great opportunity for clubs to increase their membership base and offer support for kids on ATVs. It also means more possibilities for club sponsorship with local ATV dealers and hopefully a whole new competitor base to come into the sport.
